Read WiFi password on iPhone - is that possible?
You can only read out your WiFi password on the iPhone under certain circumstances. We'll show you how and where to do it.
iPhone: Read WiFi password
For security reasons, you cannot directly read saved WiFi passwords on the iPhone. However, you can retrofit the function via a jailbreak:
- With a jailbreak you open the operating system of the iPhone for numerous other tools and accessibility. You can find more detailed information on jailbreaking in this practical tip.
- If you already have a jailbreak installed on your iPhone, you can download the "WiFi Passwords" app from Cydia.
- Then start the tool and you can read out your WiFi password. Instructions for installation under Cydia can be found in this article.
Read WLAN password on Windows, Mac OS X and Android
If you do not want to install a jailbreak for your WLAN password, you can also read the password from your PC or Mac:
- Windows: Under Windows you can read out your WLAN passwords with the WirelessKeyView tool.
- Mac OS: Under Mac OS X, simply go to "Keychain Access" and the password will be displayed directly.
- Android: Here the process is also more difficult, you need a root and the "WiFi Key Recovery" app.
