Windows: Set up video as a desktop background
If an image is too boring as a desktop background, you can also put a video in the background. The installation of the software is not easy, but once set up, you can easily set videos as the desktop background. In our instructions we show you how to do this.
Software for a video desktop background
You can only use videos with additional software as a desktop background. DreamScene is free and allows you this feature. Depending on the operating system, you must download and install the 32-bit version and the 64-bit version.
- Because DreamScene deeply interferes with the operating system, you should create a restore point beforehand.
- Installation is particularly easy for 32-bit users. All you have to do is double-click the downloaded file. Then restart your PC.
- If you have a 64-bit operating system, proceed as follows: Unzip the downloaded .zip archive. Move the "DreamScene.dll" file to the "C: \ Windows \ System32" folder and the "DreamScene.dll.mui" file to the "C: \ Windows \ System32 \ en-US" folder. Then execute the file "Dscene.reg" with a double click and confirm further questions. Finally restart the PC.
Set up video as desktop background
- You can find videos for a suitable desktop background at dreamscene.org, for example. If you use your own video, you should make sure that it is not too large, otherwise too much resources will be used.
- Select the desired video and right click on it. Then choose the "Set as Desktop Background" option.
By the way, Windows 8 users can also set up an animated desktop background. For Windows 7 there are also [[//praxistipps.chip.de/mobilliche- background pictures- the- best-wallpaper-downloads_12125|animated pictures for the background].
