Safari: Hide the table bar under iOS 8 - how it works
Apple has improved tab management in iOS 8 Safari. You can now hide the browser table bar without losing the overview of the open windows. In this practical tip you will learn how to permanently hide the Safari table bar.
More space on the screen thanks to the hidden table bar
Using the "Show all tabs" icon (two overlapping pages) in the Safari menu bar, you can quickly view all open tabs in a preview view. If this view is sufficient for you to switch between different tabs, hide the table bar in Safari with the following steps.
- Open the "Settings" app on your iPhone or iPad and scroll down to "Safari" in the page navigation.
- In the configuration options for Safari you will find the entry "Show table bar" under "General". Disable this feature.
- To do this, slide the controller to the left. The controller background is then colorless. This permanently hides the table bar in Safari.
