LNB defective - you can do that
Image interference in satellite television can indicate a defective LNB (Low Noise Block). You can find out what you can do with a defective LNB in this practical tip.
LNB defective: exclude other errors
A defective LNB is almost impossible to repair. The costs for this are in no comparison to the new purchase. Before you replace your LNB, you should rule out the following errors.
- When there is heavy rain or a storm, satellite television often causes picture interference.
- Check that your satellite dish is aligned correctly. In strong winds, this can sometimes shift.
- Due to constant environmental influences, the connections on the LNB can corrode, especially due to moisture. Unscrew the connections of the LNB, check them for corrosion and replace them if necessary.
Defective LNB: How to change the LNB
If none of the points in the first section led to success, you can no longer avoid replacing the LNB. To do this, proceed as follows.
- Try to shake the bowl as little as possible so as not to move it.
- Only loosen the screws of the LNB to remove it - never the those of the satellite dish.
- Now remove the connection cable from the old LNB and screw it onto the new LNB.
- Insert the new LNB and screw it tight.
- You may need to re-align the satellite dish to get the best picture quality.
