iTunes: Error 7 - how to fix it
With iTunes on Windows, the error "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. (Error 7)" may appear. Mostly this is due to a bug in the .NET Framework programs. We'll show you how to fix them and get iTunes up and running again.
Fix iTunes error 7
ITunes error 7 can be triggered by the Microsoft programs .NET Framework. In this case you should reinstall the tools. Depending on the operating system you need different versions:
- Windows XP / Vista: Download the setups of ".NET Framework 3.5 (SP 1)" and ".NET Framework 4.0" (version for XP) and install them one after the other. To do this, start the downloaded files, select "Repair" and follow the further instructions on the screen (see photo).
- Windows 7/8: Microsoft's ".NET Framework 3.5" is already firmly integrated into the system. Therefore you only need the setup of ".NET Framework 4.0", which you install with one click. Here, too, select the "Repair" option and follow the further instructions.
Once iTunes works again, you can set up private sharing and enjoy your music anywhere in the house.
