iOS 8: Request desktop version in Safari
Under iOS 8, you can not only open the mobile websites in Safari, but also request the desktop versions. In this practical tip we will show you how.
iOS 8: Request desktop version in Safari
Many websites have a mobile version. Here you will usually only find a simplified website with fewer functions. However, Safari can also pretend to be a computer and request the desktop version.
- Load the desired website and tap on the URL bar at the top.
- Now place your finger on the area below the URL bar and pull it down.
- Then two other options appear in a relatively transparent font. With a low screen brightness, these are unfortunately hardly recognizable.
- If you tap the "Request desktop site" button at the top, the desktop version will be loaded (see image).
