Deleted print jobs do not disappear - what to do?
If deleted print jobs simply do not want to disappear, further jobs are usually blocked and nothing works. We'll show you how to solve the problem.
Windows: Deleted print jobs do not disappear
First, you should do a simple restart. If that doesn't help, follow these instructions. If this does not lead to success either, follow the instructions in the second paragraph.
- Press the "Windows" and "R" keys simultaneously so that the "Execute" command opens.
- Enter "services.msc" here and confirm by clicking "OK". A window with all Windows services then opens.
- Scroll down a little until you get to the "Print Queue" item.
- Right-click on the entry and select the "Exit" option.
- Then you can start the service again with a right click.
Delete print jobs manually
- Press the "Windows" and "R" keys simultaneously so that the "Execute" command opens.
- Enter "cmd" here and confirm by clicking "OK". Then a small black window opens.
- Type in the command "net stop spooler" and confirm with "Enter". Do not close the window afterwards.
- Now open the path "C: \ Windows \ System32 \ spool \ PRINTERS" in the Explorer and delete the files with the extensions ".dhd" and ".spl".
- Now switch back to the black console and issue the command "net start spooler". Then confirm with "Enter" if the printing should work again.
If you have to select the printer you want to print each time, it can be a nuisance. It's quicker if you set the printer as the default printer.
