If a network is not automatically recognized by Windows 7, you can also set up the dial-up broadband connection manually. We'll show you how.
Step 1: Start the wizard to set up the dial-up broadband connection (PPPoE)
- Click on the Windows icon in the lower left so that the Start menu opens. Select the "Control Panel" on the right side.
- Click on the "Network and Internet" category and then select the "Network and Sharing Center".
- At the bottom of the window you will now find the option "Set up a new connection or new network".
- Then a new window opens. Follow the instructions in the next paragraph to set up.
Step 2: Set up dial-up broadband connection (PPPoE) under Windows 7
- Select the "Connect to the Internet" option above and click "Next".
- Now decide on the connection "Broadband (PPPoE)".
- Enter the username and password for the connection above. You can get this from your provider or system administrator.
- Activate the "Save this password" option so that you do not have to dial in again after each restart.
- Also activate the option "Allow other users to use this connection" so that other user accounts can also use the network.
- Then give the connection a name and click on the "Connect" button. The setup is now complete.
- Note: If you do not know the access data, your provider may have sent you a CD for setup. In this case, click on the link "There is no Internet service provider", insert the CD in the drive and follow the next steps.
