If you want to update your chipset driver, there are a few points to consider. In this practical tip, we will show you step-by-step how to proceed exactly.
What chipset do you have? Here's how to find out
There are several ways to find out which chipset is installed in your PC:
- On the one hand, you can open the case and take a look inside the PC. Note: For safety reasons, remove the power supply plug beforehand.
- There you should find a sticker with the model number of the chipset.
- Alternatively, you can download and install the free CPU-Z tool.
- The program then shows you at a glance which chipset you have.
Update chipset drivers - so go ahead
Go to the manufacturer of your chipset and download the appropriate chipset driver.
- Right click on the file and select "Create Shortcut".
- Then right-click the shortcut again and choose Properties.
- Add "-OVERALL" at the end in the Target field.
- Then start the link as administrator by right-clicking on it and choosing "Run as administrator".
- Wait for the update to complete successfully.
- Note: The screen may briefly go black during this time.
