Change image file in IrfanView: How it works
With the image viewer IrfanView you can not only open image files, but also change them. In this practical tip, we explain exactly how this works.
Change picture in IrfanView - so proceed
Download the current IrfanView version and run the installation file. Then follow the installation instructions. Then open the program.
- Click on "File" in the menu bar of IrfanView. There, select "Open" to open an image from your hard drive in the image viewer.
- If you select "Edit" and then "Draw dialog", the "Paint" palette appears. You can paint the picture with tools such as the brush or fill tool.
- You can also insert text using "Edit". Simply select "Insert text" in the opened menu. Enter your text in the displayed text field and define the desired text settings.
- A watermark can also be used in the image with IrfanView. To do this, select the "Insert watermark" option via "Edit".
- Various options such as changing the colors, sharpening the image or rotating the image file can be set via "Image" in the menu bar.
- You can also crop your picture. To do this, select the "Selection" tool in the "Paint" tool list and drag the desired section. Then click "Edit" and "Crop" to trim the image.
Save changes in IrfanView
To save the changes in the image file, click on "File" in the menu bar.
- Here you can overwrite the original image with "Save (original directory)". If you leave the name and click "Save", replace the original file with the edited image.
- With "Save as" you choose a different file path and, if desired, do not overwrite the original image.
